Don't rely on bus schedules! "Catch The Bus" makes use of GPS trackers on each bus to give you an accurate prediction for when the next bus will arrive at your stop. Its simple and intuitive interface will get you the information you need fast.

* Has complete coverage for all routes in SF Muni & Boston's MBTA, and many other systems.

* Tells you when your bus will be at your stop, using GPS trackers on each bus.

* Save your favorite or most frequent bus stops to "My Stops" for easy access

* Search for bus stops on a Google Map view, which will display your current location alongside the stops. Making it very easy to find your stop.

MBTA Disclaimer:

The location data used to support this feed is provided by equipment on the MBTA’s buses manufactured by Trapeze ITS U.S.A., LLC. The real-time predictions and the XML feed itself are provided by NextBus Inc. San Francisco also has similar data available. While I would love to come to your town and install GPS units on all of your buses, I simply don't have the resources to make that happen.

What you could do if you'd like your city to have data to make apps like this possible, is to contact someone in your local transit authority, and point them towards this app, showing your support for open data & innovation.

I use this app every commute to track Boston's MBTA buses and the times are remarkably accurate and certainly very helpful. I love the simplicity of the app but please update for the iPhone 5.

I've been using this app for several months going to and leaving work. It's now an integral part of my commute as I am able to time the bus and not stand outside like a popsicle awaiting the bus to grace my stop. Accuracy? It’s been off once or so I perceived. That puts it better than 99% accurate. No bad!

A must have if you avail yourself of even just one bus line in the metro Boston area. If you even occasionally use more than one or two, incredibly useful, even if dependent on wifi spots.

A must-have for Boston commuters. I've only had a few inconsistencies over a year of use. I only wish it had the T lines as well. Easter egg: try shaking the phone while on any given bus stop page :).

Works great in Boston. Has saved me lots of time by helping me plan when to leave my apt. and office to avoid waiting outside for a late bus

I've used this for over a year and it used to work but for the third time in the last couple months this app completely missed a trip. I only caught my bus because I happened to look back as I was on phone with the T to tell them they dropped a trip. Turns out the trip was 10 minutes late and the app was simply wrong. I'm going to try a different app.

With my last phone, I loved this app. I used it every day to check when I should leave the apartment or the bar or wherever without having to wait at the stop for too long. I found it easy to understand and navigate, and I loved that I could save stops I frequent (and I still love this part). So one of the first things I did when I bought my new phone was to download the app again. But now I find it's inaccurate and seems to rely not on the GPS location of a bus, but where the bus "should" be at that time according to the MBTA. Because I'll be at my stop with several minutes to spare, and it will say my bus will arrive at 8:03, but 8:03 comes and goes and no bus is in sight. And the app tells me that I've missed the 8:03 bus and the next one will arrive at 8:14 (the time that the next bus would have arrived had my bus been on time). And by 8:17 there's still no bus and I resort to renting a Zipcar so I'm not late for work. And that's no small fee. Maybe if there's an update, I'll try it again, but for now I'll stick to something more accurate. I don't want to wait 20 minutes at a bus stop in the winter.

Might what to specify in the description that it only works in NY.. I live it FL.. Bullshizzz

I'm now a full-time express bus rider and depend on this app twice a day. What I like the most about it is the ability to bookmark the precise stop I use regularly, which is not a feature of the other apps I tried. I also like its quick refresh feature and mapping link.

This app works great!!! Definitely worth it!

Awesome very accurate app!

For 0.99 cents this app is totally worth it I can always rely on it always on time this app never made me miss the bus or had a wrong predicted time always on the spot.

Recently added using bus on my commute. This app makes the change great. As I said....love it!

I use this app almost every day. It works great.

Saved me so much time and is much more intuitive than other apps out there.

This app is really helping me save time getting my bus in Boston.

Works great & accurate to the tee- very very rarely can't find the bus, but as long as you retry the action the gps finds it instantly. Good job!

I love this app the times are very accurate, automatically updates every 30 seconds. No longer freeze waiting 30 minutes for a bus. One day in March 2012, the MBTA server was down and I was totally lost without this app. But when I saw no buses arriving at Haymarket during rush hour, I knew it was a T IT issue. The servers were back up before noob. I have 6 T apps and this is my favorite.

The times it tells you for the bus to arrive is a joke basically. I bought it to not freeze to death I the winter and I found myself standing in the cold every frickin time waiting for the bus. Don't buy this.

I have been using this app for over a year and 9 times out of 10 it is a great tool. Lately my bus route hasn't been howling up but other times will. Not sure if it's the app of lack of GPS on the bus (route 503). Regardless, it's definitely worth more than 99 cents

I would like you to add north south east west to find the directions quickly.

I use this app a lot, and it is a solid choice for a bus app in Boston (I've used several). I would love to see a better interaction for finding a bus stop on the map quickly (even a simple zoom to current location button would be a huge timesaver). Being able to find any stop near you (regardless of route) would also be a useful feature. Great job so far!

When the app says one minute, sometimes it takes as long as 10 minutes for the bus to actually arrive, with the app continually updating to say one more minute. Of course, there's bound to be variability because of traffic, but the app would be much more useful if it included error ranges based on collected data for each stop.

Very reliable. Makes riding the bus more predictable. Less time waiting and much more likely to use the bus now than before.

I like this app

I rely on this for my commute multiple times a day with no problems, well built and easy to setup your stops.

I like this app a lot. It's very accurate. It makes me work too much by scrolling for the bus line, the route direction, and the stop. I'm using another app called Smart Ride that's more intuitive. I like this app, but I'd like to see improvements. Also, I'd like to plan a MBTA trip. Dare I say I'd like to have the T and bus apps combined? I rely heavily in google maps.

This app predicts the buses I take to work down to the minute. No more missing the bus. I will know if it is running early or late before I even leave my house. I LOVE this app and would have paid much more for it. Definitely worth the $0.99. I recommend this to anyone who regularly takes MBTA buses.

This app has saved me from so many tight spots! I can honestly say that, at least in Boston, this app can predict a bus's arrival to the very minute - not accounting for unexpected delays. Otherwise, this is a fantastic app that I've encountered few problems with. The interface could be nicer, but I'm not complaining.

It's great to see an update on this app, I've been using it on IOS 5 for a while now (obviously bugs are to be expected in beta) and I noticed numerous problems. It's great to see a quick update to the app!

This app has not been updated in almost a year. With later versions of iOS4 and now iOS5 this app crashes/force closes when trying to add stop to the "My Stops" list. If you, like me, live in a place with hundreds of bus routes scrolling through the entire list every time you want to find a bus route and/or stop is not really an option. The application works OK in other respects. Jared, if you're reading this, I'm willing to help you bring updated iOS support to your application. Reach out to me via @thechrisjackson on twitter.

Love it but since I upgraded to iOS5 it shuts down immediately upon opening. Please fix!

Almost dead on.

I live next to the Mass Ave T on the Orange Line. I don't take the bus often, but the five or six times that I've used this app, the buses have come EXACTLY on time. Route 1, Harvard to Dudley, one of the busiest routes in the system and this app has it nailed down to the second. I LOVE "Catch the Bus"

I've had no problems, nothing is perfect and any problems that the other reviews have are probably due to the mbta and not the app.

It's not reliable. If it is accurate it's only gratifying. And that wont get me to work on time. Which is unfortunate considering you could just stick with the free mbta app which is just as unreliable, but at least it's free and it will even tell me when people are dying or whatever major disaster is going on with the red line during commuter hours. Don't bother with this app

I was trying to catch a specific bus and the app said it was coming but that bus was out of service and never came.

Generally this app is very useful in determining how long you have to wait before the bus comes, but it has its glitches: * Sometimes the information just does not load. The problem is not my phone, and not the internet / 3G connection. It is either the app itself, or the MBTA's GPS system. * If you are looking at a specific bus stop to see when the next bus will arrive, sometimes not every bus will show up as en route. For example, if you're waiting at Harvard Square and you look up when the next bus will arrive, there might be a bus arriving in 5 minutes and another in 20, but there may be a bus in between those two that will arrive in 10 minutes but doesn't appear in the app. * The section that compiles and lists your favorite bus stops is not convenient. You can't change the orders of the bus stops, and you also can't always tell which direction the "favorite" is for. For instance, if you use the 86 bus from Harvard to go to both Sullivan and Cleveland Circle, and you mark Harvard as a favorite bus stop for going in both directions, you won't be able to tell which "favorite" is the bus going to Sullivan and which is the bus going to Cleveland Circle. * The GPS map feature can be very handy, but it can also be misleading--you may think the bus is further away from you than you think. The app's estimations of when the bus will arrive gives a much better estimation than the GPS map.

Which makes it practically useless

Beats the snot out of PocketMBTA and Nextbus' webapp. Great, quick and very usable.

There are many MBTA apps, but along with Catch The T, these are by far the best.

Great real time bus app. Only thing I would add is for it to use gps to suggest closest bus stop.

Considering the untimeliness of MBTA buses this app does a great job of letting me make mass transit decision! Next bus in 45 mins? Over to catch the T app!

Complete set of bus lines. Great! But don't like that it does not propose next bus station based on Location Service data. Need to know where I am to pick the next station from the long list of possible stops.

Second time this has happened to me. First time it was off by two. The next it was off by four minutes (I don't know about you but four minutes can make a difference in timing)! Not as dependable as I thought!

This morning I left my house with 6 minutes til the bus arrived and didn't have to break stride as I stepped aboard. Most-useful app on my phone. Minus one star because of the interface. But the core of it is awesome.

Every test has been spot on. We catch the 1 bus primarily and it's been to the minute. Would be nice to be able to rename your favorite stops and a map showing the location of the buses would be cool. For the dude complaining about it costing $.99 -- really? You can't scrape a buck from your couch? Or skip the Snickers tomorrow? This app has saved us so much time it's a freaking bargain.

It says the bus is coming and that it has left, yet no bus in sight. Sigh.

This is the most useful app on my iphone. I use it several times a day and depend on it a lot. It's well designed to get you the information you need in as straightforward a way as possible.

used to be great, not sure what happened but I keep getting error messages now:/ please fix as soon as possible, otherwise it's a great app.
