★★★★★★★★★★

You are merchants in the fiercely competitive, but wealthy age of the Medici family. Your ships sail throughout the known world selling the goods you buy. Every day you go to the market where you must compete with other merchants for the merchandise available that day.

As lots are purchased they are immediately loaded onto the waiting ships so that the ships may depart as soon as the market closes and the tide is high.

When the ships set sail to deliver their merchandise to foreign ports, the merchants gather to calculate their earnings for the day. A merchants earnings are based on the total value of the goods they bought and the number of each commodity compared to the other merchants.

With no setup time required, no pieces to lose, and no arguments about the rules, the future of board games is here and Medici gives you exactly what you want -- to play!

How to Play:

Combining deep strategy with an intuitive and beautiful interface, Medici is easy to learn but hard to master. Choose your favorite of nine different historically-based Medici characters, and then discover their true personalities as you compete against them in solo play.

On a players turn, they open crates on the dock, then auction them off to the highest bidder. At the end of each day, Florins are paid out to the merchants with the most valuable shipments and who have shipped the most of each commodity. The player with the most money at the end of the three days is the winner!

Short, fun game. Numbers are small and don't stand out. No indication of who opened the bidding or holds the highest bid.

Great game, make more like it! How about a good Dominion game that works

Th AI isn't all that tough, but it is still fun and fast.

This just replaced Catan as my go to game when I have down time. It's quick and easy to learn but still a challenge. Just needs multiplayer support.

I play this board game about as much as Puerto Rico. It makes a fun, exciting and quick game. The ai is pretty easy, but not too easy that I don't get a challenge out of it. Would love to incorporate gamecenter.

Simple to learn and so addictive! Very challenging AI's. fluid interface also, glitch-free. What more could you want?

I love this game and the strategy involved. When I bring up the 'my music' option the app freezes. Please fix this soon so I can grant 5 stars. Best Wishes!

My only critique is no on line play is supported. I feel it won't be long until I bore of playing the computer. But an enjoyable game with a good mix of strategy and luck.

This game can be played much faster than most board games but still has all the depth of strategy. Highly recommend this great adaptation.

If you like auction style board games with a medieval theme you will like Medici. Easy to learn with quick action makes getting started a snap. Playing an entire game is quick, 15 to 20 minutes. Perfect for those evenings when you don't want to think to hard but enjoy a sophisticated game. We play 2 or 3 games in a session. Wonderful!

A wonderful, easy to learn and subtle game finally comes to the iPad! The AI still needs work, but I'm sure that will improve in future updates. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on how hard it is to learn since I already knew how to play the board game.

My kids love this because there is no set-up or clean up and the game is fun. Everyone plays on almost every turn, but its quick.

I enjoy playing this game ... It's a quick play and good for when I have just a little time. I just wish there weren't so many clicks required to get to the point to play.

great game

This is one of my favorite euros and the iOS version allows me to zip through games.

I wish there is another game like this one , I love it . Keep up good work

This game is quick, but extremely fun.

A light but challenging board game made into a good, easy-to-use app. People new to the game will have to read the instructions, because it's not at all obvious how to play. But once you do know, it's a fun, quick game.

Good implementation of a great board game. Would like to see a couple more AI personalities on the tougher end though. One complaint: It's impossible to see the scoring wheel during player one's turn - it gets covered up by the bidding window.

I had never played this game before, but had played Ra, so I gave it a try. It was easy to learn and is fun to play. It's not as complex as Ra, but I enjoy killing time with it.

I enjoy this genre of game and I think this is a solid effort in translating it to the iPad. Good value for a couple of dollars.

The leftmost player's bid dialog partially obscures the scoring chart, making it difficult to see the current score for one of the goods.

Very nice implementation of a great game

The best 99 cents I've spent on an app! I would have paid at least 5 bucks for this. I love strategy games and board games and this is the perfect mix. If I could only keep 10 game apps on my ipad this would definitely make the cut. Never knew this game existed until last week. :)

Awesome game, could be a little more attractive

A quick and simple improvement would be to add usernames/players. Then save game outcomes of those players and AI and compile a track record that one can go check at the main page

Great fun! The only reasons I'm not giving 5 stars: 1 - no multiplayer (this is a PERFECT game for it) 2 - when I try to play my own music it locks up High fun value and a great game.

Great game. Simple but both challenging and addicting. Highly recommend.

Needs an option to bypass/skip the scoring animations, or just come up with a faster process overall. Same for bidding after you've filled your boats. AI Strategy isn't all that difficult to deduce either. Needs a little more variability to make the game fresh every time. Suggestions: empty crates, or variable commodities of the day costing extra taxes.

Very fun game, but so many strategies it will take considerable time to master. Certainly worth the price. Trade game that appeals to many types of gamer. Enjoy!

As mentioned, the UI blocks the score board by the blue's and orange's bid buttons. The game involves a lot of luck, but is a chill game. Def worth a dollar

This is a easy game to play. If you like bidding games, this is for you. Lots of fun for up to 6 players.

It's very good game!!

The game has potential and its easy to play. I just wish it had a little more to offer. I wish it had difficulty levels. I wish it kept track of high scores. I wish it had more variety other than the number of players.

This game is so true to the original board game it is incredible.some complain about the fonts and graphics, but these people do not realize that the original game used terrible fonts and colors that were even more difficult to discern than those here. I actually like how this app remained authentic to both of the published board game versions. It is great. Game play is fantastic. My favorite app on iPad so far; though, I am a board game geek.

Bottom Line: 6 player auction-style money-accumulation game with no online support. If you like the table top board game, you will almost certainly be a fan of this iPad port. Pros: 1. Beautiful looking and easy to navigate. 2. Quick to play. 3. Variable skill level AI- user can determine challenge level. 4. Rules are not overly complicated. Cons: 1. Could benefit from a 'tutorial' mode. 2. Touch implementation could be more intuitive. 3. No online play, or social media integration. Full Review: Medici is auction game with the goal of accumulating the most money. This version is very enjoyable. It's slick, quick, and challenging- all without being overly complex. The variable skill AI is fantastic. I able to win in both three and six player modes after my first few games. The more shrewd AI players are significantly more difficult to beat, increasing the solo replay value. The game supports up to 6 human players, so pass and play is a definite option. I'd consider this a welcome addition at any board game night in which table space is limited. It would also make a great back up plan for game nights held in crowded public gathering places. The downsides are few, but significant. First, like any board game, this one could benefit from a tutorial mode. It can be daunting jumping into an auction game with even a few twists like Medici. A tutorial would greatly help reduce the learning curve. The touch implementation is good, but not great. Pressing 'X' boxes to navigate menus feels so 'windows.' The iPad offers much more than a simple rehash of keyboard and mouse interaction. Medici does a nice job, but does not quite go far enough to realize the devices potential. Finally, and the largest foul of all, Medici has no support for online play or social media. In an age when every new piece of software developed can synch to facebook, the lack of any sort of social media integration- even the ability to challenge friends and random opponents online- feels very glaring. I would rate this app three stars, but the game itself is so well-conceived and fun that it really deserves five- if it weren't for it's flaws. Four stars and a strong recommendation to owners and fans of the table-top version.

Like most of Knizia's games, this has relatively simple gameplay, but the scoring system makes the overall game anything but simple. To really master the game requires some strategic thinking. The ability to play with multiple people on one device is an added bonus. 

I have to versions of the board game. This is a very good representation of the originals. However there are no real expert players among the AI's where, when left to themselves, rarely win with three digit scores. Yet against expert human players, I could fine myself losing with scores over a hundred. Create some expert AI players that have to skill to score a three digit score regularly without cheating and my rating would go up.

Simple strategy wins 90% of the time...

I really enjoy board games made for the iPad,

Quick, easy, but a great strategic bidding war. Vary nice! Well worth the money.

I would like something that clearly indicates how many goods have been passed over in a round (lots that are discarded because all players passed). Even a number somewhere would help. As it is, the alternative is to compare the number of crates left to the number of open spaces on players' ships. That's a lot of counting! Maybe there could be a group of broken crates. (In my game group we leave passed-over lots face up so we can see what's been discarded. This is mostly so we can see how many goods have been discarded and know how close we are getting to the situation where someone's ship will have open spots.) I think the splash sound-effect is overused. It is appropriate for a passed-over lot (presumably being dumped into the sea), but it is not the right sound-effect for advancing players' goods markers. I would like to see a better scoring summary. It should show a running total of the scores from each round, plus the detailed scoring for the current round, not just the number of points gained or lost this round. So far, I'm happy with the AIs. The AIs play very differently than any people I've ever played with. Maybe I'll learn something. :)

An excellent reproduction of a great game. All the elements to the game fit nicely on the screen. The AI players seem to function as skilled players, and don't rely on cheats to offer a challenging game. Game play is smooth, and the artwork enhances the games eye candy nicely. Highly recommended!

Wow! What a stunning adaptation of this classic eurogame. Excellent music and graphics as well as great AI and pass-and-play options. I wish it had a few minor tweaks to be perfect and once it does I'll gladly upgrade to 5 stars. Needs: undo button, or confirm button; some way to recover from a clicko. Also needs: way to speed up scoring mid-game, and a fast way to setup a random game. Oh yeah: please add achievements!

I bought this game somewhat on a whim, and ended up being really surprised by it. I've probably played it the most of the games I own. It's a clean, simple, attractive implementation of a finely honed auction game. It takes 5-10 minutes to play, so it's perfect to pull out in a spare moment. And it has an array of quick, interesting decisions to make. But what really makes this game shine are the AI players. The developers must really have worked on the AIs, which are well-crafted and (increasingly) challenging to play against. Highly recommended.

Not my favorite game, but the implementation is good, and the AI seems competent. Not in the realm of Carcasonne, which is a fabulous iPad version of a board game, but solid.

Love the game and graphics. I was introduced to the board game first and bought it for the family to play. Now we can play it a lot easier and faster. My only gripe I have is that the AI is pretty easy to defeat. My Daughter wants to add her opinion/review - I find the game very fun and I also like that it makes me think about my strategy and technique. It is a good game to play with the family in my opinion. It can be a competitive game and gives the kids a chance to crush their parents at something. I would like to see more characters to play.

I really like the game. I bought the iPad to play eurogames exactly like this, and the roster of upcoming games is exciting. I think the AI in this game is pretty good. I do wish there are a couple changes, though: 1) I find it annoying that the bid/pass grayed out area covers up the blue good (dye) when it is the upper-left player's turn (normally, the human player), making it difficult to see where players are at on that goods pyramid. This problem is clearly visible in the screenshot advertising the game, above. 2) For the solo game portion, I wish that there were acheivements or a compaign to work against ("Score all five goods in the first round", working through the different AI players in a tournament setup, etc.). I tend to use my iPad for boardgames when I can't find human gamers, so having some sense of progress or working through the game is always fun. 3) Clearly, online multiplayer with this type of game would be a great addition, and I find it a little worrying that it is not included here. Hopefully a future update. That said, this is a game that I keep coming back to -- not one to delete! Nice music, good graphics, and intuitive/easy gameplay. This can be a longish game with humans; playing against the computer makes it more accessible by turning it into a five minute Knizia race.

I really enjoy this game because it doesn't take long to play and yet it requires thinking to win. The graphics are good. I really enjoy Knizia's games and this is a great one for the IPad.

I like this and the effort here is better than others. But I think I have heard these sound effects elsewhere in other apps and the font improvement is more like a step back. Must have been Spring Break in the graphics department and back fillers finished the sprint. Polish folks, please. It's the details that make these games more than just a boredom killer.
